About

The "Main House", as it's affectionately referred to, has been managed by the Howard-Smith family for four generations. Logan Howard-Smith and Amelia Howard-Smith, fell in love with the Thousand Islands while traveling to Canada via the Thousand Islands Bridge. In 1937, Amelia Howard-Smith purchased land on Grindstone Island and began constructing the Main House that stands today. Logan and Amelia had one child, Douglas Howard-Smith, who would marry Imogen Reeve Snowden in 1947. Over his lifetime, Doug purchased adjoining farms piece by piece, forming the 600+ acre private preserve which stands today.
